Speech by Mr Rahul Shah
Good morning Comrades.
As we prepared for our presentation this morning, we brainstormed many ideas on how best to put forward the views and opinions of our party youth.
We had close to 120 -150 youth activists from 15 regions at the pre-convention dialogue expressing their vision for our new way forward.
Our sharing encompassed our vision for PAP as the ruling party, as the connector between government and people as well as the choice platform for aspiring change-makers.
We were reminded during the session that the true potential of the youth lies not merely in the potential energy and dynamism we posses to drive the nation forward but also in our potential to dream, imagine and aspire without limit. This potential cannot simply be harnessed without first being nurtured.
What if there was a group within the PAP formed by senior citizen activists?
'We must continue to engage our seniors and tap on their experiences and wisdom.'
'Your party wants to engage you. Your party wants to work with you. Your party is listening.'
'We must not fail Singapore and Singaporeans; we must do the right things and we must do things right.'
There is no perfect place in the world, but Singapore comes close.
Our cause: To build a better Singapore, for Singaporeans and with Singaporeans.
Several themes were highlighted in the last three months of engagement sessions led by the Party's three branches.
This annual event serves to recognise the many contributions made by outstanding men and women from the Party.
The PAP was inaugurated 59 years ago, taking on the challenges of colonialism, communism and a divided people.
