The following is a media statement from Dr Teo Ho Pin, the coordinating chairman for the 14 PAP Town Councils:
We would like to state that the contract between Action Information Management Pte Ltd (AIM) and the PAP Town Councils with regards to the Town Council Management System (TCMS) was transacted in accordance with the Town Councils Financial Regulations.
The Town Council Management System (TCMS) used by the PAP Town Councils (TCs) was developed by National Computer Services (NCS) Pte Ltd and was owned by the PAP Town Councils.
In 2010, the PAP TCs considered whether to extend NCS's contract, or to call an open tender, which could leverage on the existing TCMS or develop a new one.
He said that he accepted the resignation with "great sadness" and encouraged Mr Palmer to continue contributing to society in his own way.
He encouraged them to continue the work they are doing to serve the residents of Punggol East.
He knew Mr Palmer as a hard working and good MP, and is "saddened and disappointed that this has happened".
He resigned from his position in to avoid further embarrassment to the PAP and Parliament.
Branch Chairman Victor Lye said that "policies need to have more heart, and go back to basics".
PAP Chairman says the Party also needs to evolve so as to remain in tune with the times.
Newly inducted to the CEC were Chan Chun Sing and Heng Swee Keat.
Lee Hsien Loong called on party members to stay true to the party's original aims - to serve the people and create a brighter future for Singaporeans.
