When they were young, our seniors gave of their best to care for us. In their older years, it's our turn to care for them.
As a society with strong family values, the family is the first source of support for our seniors. However, the Government will step in to help those with no family or whose families are unable to support them. The Government has created a broad safety net for seniors. In recent years, it has introduced many new schemes and enhanced existing ones, all aimed at meeting specific needs.
• Healthcare: Pioneer Generation Package, MediShield Life, CHAS;
• Work and Retirement: Special Employment Credit, Lease Buyback, Silver Housing Bonus;
• Eldercare: EASE, Seniors' Mobility and Enabling Fund; and
• Support for Daily Expenses: GST vouchers, U-Save and public transport concessions.
