Party Secretary-General Lee Hsien Loong emphasised that the PAP must not only have a capable PAP team for today, but also a deep bench, as it builds a team for the future.
As part of the on-going renewal process, "the younger leaders will progressively take over from me and my older colleagues," Mr Lee told the party conference on Dec 4.
During the conference, party cadres elected 12 members to the Central Executive Committee, (CEC), the party's highest decision-making body. Another two were co-opted into the CEC which starts a two-year term from 2017.
